York Electric Cooperative Utilizes Technology with FuturaOMS

York EC in York, SC, deploys Futura’s Outage Management System to improve outage restoration and communication.

Following a tradition of employing progressive technologies cultivated since 1941, York Electric Cooperative has chosen FuturaOMS to greatly improve their outage communications both in-house and with their consumers. The new system corresponds with York EC’s current systems in real time, inputting from AMI, IVR, CIS and SCADA with two-way integration, giving utility employees dependable, current outage information. The system offers automated outage predictions, network tracing and switching to help pinpoint outages and speed dispatching of field crews. Craig Spencer, Manager of Engineering at York EC, looks forward to the new capabilities for serving their members. “YEC expects the Futura OMS to assist our Operations personnel with handling large scale outages, provide more timely information to our member service representatives, to update our members and to provide an internet-accessible outage map for our membership to access outage information.”

The flawless integration with current systems, powered by SEDC software, will simplify customer information searches for identifying callers in existing outage areas. Customers can obtain up-to-the-minute restoration information from York Electric Cooperatives’ website from any internet access point, and the real-time information available will also assist York in communicating their outage updates through social media outlets. York EC understands that communication to members during an outage is fundamental in maintaining customer satisfaction, and the co-op is setting the standard by choosing world-class tools by Futura.
