Mitchell EMC Takes a Step Forward
Mitchell EMC Takes a Step Forward with Futura Systems
Mitchell Electric Membership Corporation, headquartered in Camilla, Georgia, makes the move to Futura Systems, Inc.’s mapping and staking for the latest in GIS solutions.
It had been over a decade since the Georgia-based cooperative initially began making the transition from paper mapping to its first digital system. For years the project continued to be a work in progress as new partners were introduced and integrations had to be conquered. When the utility began entertaining SEDC as a new vendor for billing and accounting functions, key players saw the opportunity to advance the cooperative into an enterprise solution for all software functions.
“The ease of integration with other departments is one of the reasons we wanted to go with Futura,” says Jimmy Clifton, Manager of Engineering at Mitchell EMC. “Stability was a big issue. We wanted to make sure our data integrity was maintained across the board. We also were looking to simplify.”
The Futura suite certainly offers a way to do that. There is none better to integrate with SEDC’s software. Combine that with the many attributes presented by the trend setting GIS vendor and you can’t go wrong. The vigorous GIS/Mapping solution is an extension of Esri software with surprisingly user friendly mapping, asset and data management tools. With front end validation and the ability to post the job directly into the system from the field, FuturaStake’s intuitive offerings were also a big incentive.
The combination of Futura’s GIS solutions with SEDC’s CIS and Billing software have put Mitchell EMC in a position to get ahead of the game in streamlining work flow efficiencies, improving performance and continuing to offer spectacular customer service to its members. For over 75 years, that is what Mitchell EMC has been all about and the cooperative continues to take steps in that direction.
