Klickitat PUD Chooses Futura GIS, Stake & OMS

Klickitat Public Utility District in Goldendale, WA, has chosen the Futura Geographic Information System (GIS), Futura Staking, and Futura Outage Management System (OMS).

Klickitat PUD has upgraded their Mapping and Staking system from CanMap to the Futura GIS and OMS software suite. The switch from an AutoCAD-based Mapping and Staking system to Futura’s Esri-based software was a logical choice for the utility which, despite being one of the state’s most rural electric cooperatives, has seen energy use increase by more than 1100 percent since it began servicing the area. “As the demands on our electric distribution system become greater and more complex, we must have the best possible software tools,” said Mark Garner, Customer Engineering Supervisor, “Futura Software will enable us to create and maintain the detailed network model and network facilities data that we need for planning, operations and management.”

Futura GIS is used by 170 electric utilities for Mapping and Asset Data Management. As an extension of the Esri software, this powerful yet easy-to-use software is unique in its ability to create and maintain the data required for a detailed electric network circuit model while seamlessly integrating CIS information. With the upgrade to Futura GIS, Klickitat PUD will now be able to take advantage of key features like completely configurable skins, ribbons and toolbars, the ability to post staking jobs directly into Futura GIS without data translation or the need to redraw, and the ability to create unlimited, customized user profiles.

By choosing the Futura Outage Management System, Klickitat PUD can take advantage of the Esri-based software’s complete integration with UPN. Packaged as one product with one integration fee, Futura OMS includes a number of features that will help Klickitat PUD increase efficiencies and facilitate time management, such as updated Mobile Workforce and Mobile Apps, switching inside the map, crew scheduler, prediction logic, Smart PING and reporting.
