EGUG Birds of a Feather Webinar Series to Showcase Colquitt EMC’s Exceptional Outage Restoration Following Hurricane Hermine
Utility credits their fully-implemented, core-Esri OMS with helping their crews restore power to 38,000 customers
Esri’s Electric and Gas User Group webinar series will be hosting Scott Howard from Colquitt EMC for the August 17 episode of their Birds of a Feather webinar series. Mr. Howard will detail the changes and upgrades Colquitt implemented during their transition from an old “outage system” to their new Outage Management System from Futura Systems.
The first real test of the new FuturaOMS came in late August 2016 when Hurricane Hermine set her sites on Colquitt’s service area. By the time the hurricane had passed out of Colquitt’s territory, over 38,000 customers were without power – nearly 90% of the co-op’s total customer base. The damage across the service area was typical of a hurricane, with lines down, trees down, and hazardous debris everywhere. Recovering from an outage event of this magnitude would be difficult and time consuming, but Howard and the Colquitt crews turned to their new OMS to help navigate the outages in the most efficient manner, eventually restoring service as much as a full day sooner than expected.
Register for the Esri webinar today to hear the full story first hand from Scott Howard.
